Theo Epstein is "On Cusp" of Deal with Chicago

GM Theo Epstein may in fact be leaving the Red Sox for a position wth the Chicago Cubs

According to Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald, Red Sox GM Theo Epstein is "on the cusp" of a deal with the Cubs. The Sox still hope to retain Theo, but there apparently is already an agreement for Theo to leave his position with Boston for one in Chicago that includes "greater powers than he has in Boston". If Epstein does in fact leave, the Sox will demand "something real" as compensation. An announcement is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours. Updates will be forthcoming as I find them.
